St. Georges Day Celebrations
They say that the sun shines on the righteous and it certainly did on us for our Group St. Georges Day Celebrations on Saturday 20th April. The first hot day of the year had us all having a fun time in the car park of the Black Dog Inn. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were trying their hand at different bases manned by leaders and parents from pioneering with spaghetti and marshmallows, dragon face mask making, decorating shields with mosaics, biscuit icing, paper plane making and flying, ace painting and many more activities during the morning.
A very enjoyable lunch of bangers, mash and baked beans was served to the scouts which was followed by campfire action songs. The afternoon ended with the presentation of certificates and the sections renewing their Promise. After all the scouts had left, the adults sat down to relax with their bangers and mash lunch and a well earned drink. An excellent day enjoyed by everyone.
If you have not guessed already, this was a truly British day celebrating St. George who is not only the Patron Saint of England but also of Scouting.
