Parents of children attending 1st Newent Scout Group can help out in many ways. If you think you have something to offer please let us know, otherwise volunteer to generally help out for an evening or more. All the leaders and other people involved in the group give their time and energy freely, why not join them?
What can I offer 1st Newent Scout Group?
Whatever your life skills there’s probably something that you could do to help out. You don’t need to be an adventurous, outdoorsy type of person. Any practical or interesting hobbies might well be suitable for inclusion into an informative and fun evening for our Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Even if you don’t think that’s the case volunteering to just help out at a pack meeting can be rewarding, fun and a chance to see what the children get out of Scouting.
I don’t have much free time, do I have to commit in the long term?
No, absolutely not. There are many opportunities to help the group, ranging from an hour and a half attending one meeting, getting involved with a longer running project, joining us on a camp for a weekend, serving on the Executive Committee and plenty more besides. How much you put in is flexible and entirely up to you.
Do I have to have a child in the 1st Newent Scout Group to volunteer?
No, if you have suitable skills and enthusiasm then you’d be most welcome to apply, contact us via the form on the contact us page. For example we have had people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme helping us until recently.
How old do I have to be and is there an upper age limit?
We can have Young Leaders from the age of 14, adult volunteers need to be over 18. There is no upper age limit.
