Seventeen Scouts and Cub Scouts along with seven leaders enjoyed an adventurous weekend on the Grand Union and the Oxford Canals. Working together the Scouts and Cubs took turns to navigate two narrow boats, Guinevere and Lancelot, as well as operating a total of 25 locks during their journey.
There wasn’t much time to rest though with the young people having to prepare food and cook on board the boats. There was time for lots of fun though, which resulted in a couple of soggy youngsters.
The weekend helped the Cubs gain their Hikes Away 1 activity badge and some of the scouts their Power Coxswain activity badge. A fantastic time was had by all.
